2011 Dates Coming Soon!

We’re taking advantage of the being snowed in to sort out some gigs for next year. We’ve got some great gigs lined up, including a Scottish small band tour in May 2011 and a French tour in the summer. We’ve got summer festival dates lined up in the UK too – keep tuned for more information!

Upcoming gigs

We’re working on some new ideas for tunes and getting ready for the Big Band tour and gigs coming up at the end of October (see Tour Dates to the right). See you there!

Some rest for the wicked.

Great gig this weekend at the Big Kic Festival in Kilsyth. Thanks to all the folks who came along and the organisers who worked so hard!
That was the last gig of our summer festivals tour. What a treat it has been to play such a great mix of brilliant festivals, The Edinburgh Jazz Fest, Cambridge Folk Fest, Sidmouth Folk Week, Wickham Fest, Big Kic. And merci to all the people at Tempo Latino, where we had the pleasure to play for the first time this year.
Next up some sleep, then The Big Band tour with very special guest Julie Fowlis. We hope to see you there!

Us on Radio 2 at the Cambridge Folk Festival

We had a great time at the fantastic Cambridge Folk Festival last weekend. Radio 2 recorded a special show at the festival, listen here to the show we are the first band on. Sounds fine especially as most of the band had come directly to the stage from an all night tunes party!

Listen to the show here.

Tempo Latino

We have had some great times playing in France this year and this weekend we had the huge honour of playing the legendary Tempo Latino Festival in Vic-Fezensac.

We couldn’t believe the legendary artists that have played at this festival over the years. They include Celia Cruz, Los Van Van, Compay Segundo, NG La Banda, Willie Colón, Cheo Feliciano, Oscar D’León, Johnny Pacheco with Ismaël Miranda and El Gran Combo to name but a few!!

Obviously it was an amazing honour for a band from Scotland to be picked to headline the mighty bull ring that has hosted such salsa legends. Huge thanks to the director of the festival and all the staff who made our visit so much fun. Thanks for the gift of a litre of the finest armagnac, very nice and especially the amazing audience who made our gig there so special and one we will never ever forget. Merci!!!

Queens Hall, Edinburgh, 30th July

Our gig at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh with the Salsa Celtica Big Band has been picked as one of 2 “world music” highlights of the upcoming entire Edinburgh festivals programme over July and August. We have always thought the Guardian as one of the most discerning UK papers and this again proves it, well done Guardian!

Walk the Walk

This Saturday in Edinburgh we had the honour of playing our music to 10,000 Moonwalkers getting ready to walk a midnight marathon or half marathon to raise money for vital breast cancer causes. What an amazing event and charity Walk the Walk is.

Here is a link to their website, www.walkthewalk.org.

Thanks Galway

Thanks to all the lovely people of Galway who came down to see us play there last Saturday at the Little Havana Festival. Galway on bank holiday weekend is possibly the most crazy place in Ireland and that is quite a party, the Havana Club helped as did the weather. Hope to be back in Ireland again soon.

Just Finished!

Just finished the last 2 dates of the En Vivo En El Norte tour so thanks to all for making it such a great time. It’s been a while since we played Giffnock and Dunblane and it was worth the wait. Thanks to all of you who helped organise the gigs and came down and made them so good, hopefully we will see you again sooner rather than later. Next up Galway this Saturday. No rest!

Two gigs to go….

We have just two local gigs left of our tour to celebrate the release of our new live album En Vivo En El Norte (dates below).
It really has been a very special tour for us, even volcanoes couldn’t stop us! We travelled from the North of Scotland to half way down France and back up again in vans, trains and tunnels and although it was really hard going at times it was more enjoyable in the end without flying. As they say “let the train take the strain”. Check gallery page for some new photos of tour.
